Greenbelt, population 21,456 was established as a “greenbelt town” by the Resettlement Administration in the 1930s. “Greenbelt towns” were planned communities, designed to provide jobs and affordable housing during the Great Depression.

Today, Greenbelt is a Washington, DC surburb that offer easy access to the region. It is at the intersection of four major highways and is serviced by both regional rail and a Metro station. In addition, AMTRAK service is just 2 miles away.
