Part of northern Baltimore’s Mount Vernon area, Mid-Town Belvedere was named after the Belvedere estate of revolutionary war patriot John Eager Howard. The site of famous and well-preserved mid-19th century architecture, Mid-Town Belvedere is a lively and diverse neighborhood that is considered the cultural center of Baltimore. The neighborhood is home to many academic and cultural institutions including the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, Walters Art Museum, University of Baltimore, Maryland Historical Society, and the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, among others.
